Joshua, Panted Post, NY

Joshua is a 3-year-old little boy who loves to dance, listen to music, watch Scooby-Doo and the Wiggles, swim, and play in the park. His family is from Painted Post, New York.

Joshua's mother, Daria Loposky shares, "I'm proud of how strong Joshua is. When he was born, he was in the NICU for two weeks with a distended stomach. He went through test after test. But one day he decided enough was enough, and he was fine. Doctors didn't find anything wrong with him. Then at four and a half months he had open-heart surgery. He was amazing! Within five days he was out of the hospital. They couldn't believe how strong he was. After his heart surgery I realized that if Josh could be that strong, so can I. He has given our family such strength."

Daria says that her dream for Joshua's future is to see him be accepted by his peers and the community.

The family has walked in three different Buddy Walks--in Hornell, NY, Binghamton, NY and in New York City. For this year's event, their third walk, the family is organizing and running the t-shirt booth.

"We have had a great time at both walks and are looking forward to more walks," says Daria. Her favorite Buddy Walk memory was meeting Chris Burke and other families who were there for the same reason: to support and spread our love for our children who have Down Syndrome. Joshua's favorite Buddy Walk activity was playing in the sand table and watching the sand spin through a sifter toy.
