Tamara, Brooklyn, NY

Five-year-old Tamara from Brooklyn, NY loves to dance and sing, and color on walls and on books. She also loves Sponge Bob Square Pants and enjoys dressing up in her mom’s shoes and dad’s hats.

Tamara’s mom is very proud of her little girl’s many accomplishments. Mom says that Tamara’s ability to love and share is amazing. “She is greatly loved by her big sister and little brother. She has opened my eyes to her abilities, and not her disabilities. We’re all very proud of our girl.”

Mom’s dreams for Tamara’s future are that she be accepted by her peers and society. “I want to be able to let her go, and not shield her from the world. Tamara needs to live a full life without limits.”

Tamara and her family have participated in the New York City Buddy Walk in Central Park since 2000. Their best memories are those of their first Buddy Walk. Mom reports that the family was able to gather about 25 walkers that year, and that they all had a great time.
