Top Drawer : Take Time Out for Reading; Raise the Roof Golf Outing; Down Syndrome Walk

NORTHWEST INDIANA

Take time out to read -- independent silent reading, group reading or reading aloud -- at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8. Students, parents, teachers and business leaders can help celebrate International Reading Day. Take Time Out for Reading is co- sponsored by the Northwest Indiana Literacy Coalition and Hammond Reads.

CROWN POINT

The Church of the Four Seasons United Methodist, 9100 E. 109th Ave., will host its second annual Raise the Roof golf outing; the shotgun start is at noon Friday, Sept. 16, at The Lakes of the Four Seasons golf course, 1054 Sunnyslope Drive.

Registration is $50 and must be received by Sept. 2. Registration forms are available at the church office.

CROWN POINT

The Down Syndrome Association of Northwest Indiana is a local not- for-profit parent advocacy group. The association is sponsoring a "Buddy Walk," which helps to promote acceptance and awareness of people with Down syndrome.

The walk will take place Sunday, Sept. 18, at the Lake County Fairgrounds. For more information or to obtain registration forms, call 838-3656.
